Abstract

On the basis of literature data the article deals with the modern ideas about the structure and function of human epiphysis cerebri in norm and under some pathological processes, as well as the mechanisms of melatonin involvement in the regulation of circadian rhythms of the body. The development of traumatic brain injury is associated with changes in the brain structures, which are related to the function and activity of the pineal gland. It was suggested that violations in melatonin metabolism influenced the formation of dysfunctions in the remote period of traumatic brain injury.
