Abstract

Acute cerebral stroke is one of the major causes of death and disability in the population of Ukraine and all over the world. Stroke and/or transient ischemic attack are among the most powerful predictors of cardiovascular events, including recurrent cerebral stroke, therefore stroke prevention in these patients — an extremely important task. The article presents current views on the role of antiplatelet agents in the prevention of recurrent strokes and transient ischemic attacks. In addition, assessment of the effectiveness and safety of different antiplatelet agents is presented from the perspective of evidence-based medicine.
