Early Rehabilitation after Acute Ischemic Cerebrovascular Events

S.M. Vinychuk, O.Ye. Fartushna

Abstract

Background. Acute ischemic stroke remains one of the most urgent diseases of clinical neurology being the leading cause of disability worldwide. However, despite advanced treatment of those patients in an acute period, not enough attention is paid to early rehabilitation. This study is a generalization of world literature data, and our own experience in early rehabilitation of patients with acute ischemic stroke. Materials and methods. Analytical review of scientific publications for the last 15 years based on analysis of modern scientometric databases and libraries of Ukraine, the EU, US, UK has been performed. Conclusions. Early medical rehabilitation improves: psychosomatic status, functional recovery, prevention of recurrent cerebrovascular events, patient’s quality of life, and reduces disability and mortality.
