The Effectiveness of Trazodone (Trittico) in the Treatment of Patients with Depressive Disorders and Cognitive Impairment on the Background of Dyscirculatory Encephalopathy

O.O. Kopchak

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of correction of depressive disorders and mild cognitive impairment in patients with chronic cerebrovascular diseases. The results of studies on trazodone efficiency (Trittico) in these patients are presented. All participants in the study (27 patients, average age 59.6 ± 7.3 years) received trazodone (Trittico) at a dose of 150 mg nocte for 2 months, and patients started treatment from 50 mg of trazodone with increasing doses during 7 days, until reaching 150 mg per day. It was found that on the background of long-term (2 months) administration of trazodone (Trittico), there was an improvement in cognitive functioning according to the MMSE in the overall group and a significant increase in indicators of operational semantic memory, immediate and long-term associative memory and an improvement in the efficiency of information processing in patients with mild cognitive impairment. This allows us to recommend trazodone (Trittico) for wide use in clinical practice to correct depressive disorders and mild cognitive impairment in patients with chronic cerebrovascular diseases.
